Lonely Clones

The crew of the Scarlet Gaze are now considering their options after Lord Straik sa'Rin no longer leads the corsair ship. Some of the a'ani crew are interested in opening a cantina on Risda III. Kazex simply desires Ruthie. However, Ruthie is on the verge of a nervous breakdown, although she also longs for Kazex. The a'ani chief of security has been a constant, protective, and comforting presence for Ruthie ever since she joined the crew. He has expressed his love for Ruthie, flaws and all. Yet, Ruthie is hesitant to take their relationship to the next level for fear of jeopardizing their friendship. She worries that any physical intimacy could change their dynamic irreparably.

The fear of committing to forever is overwhelming for Ruthie, but even more terrifying is the thought of losing her chance with Kazex altogether. This story explores the transition from friends to lovers between two clones—one human and one alien. It sets the stage for a new spinoff series that combines elements of the Corsair Brothers series with the Risdaverse stories.
