My child's father and my best friend is Hudson. When we first met, there was an instant connection between us. We shared the same sense of humor and carefree attitude towards life and our goals. Both of us were not looking to settle down, but instead wanted to explore the world.

One night, fueled by alcohol and unchecked hormones, we crossed a line and ended up in bed together. A month later, we realized that we were less careful than we had thought, as I found out I was pregnant.

Hudson, being the responsible guy he is, accompanied me back to my hometown of Lake Starlight, Alaska, where my family members were plentiful. We announced to them that we were going to have a baby, but there would be no wedding. We cared for each other, but we were not in love.

Fast forward three years, and we have created a harmonious co-parenting relationship for our daughter. I am a writer, and Hudson works as a ski instructor. We have managed to smooth out any rough patches and life is going well.

However, things suddenly begin to change. Hudson has a new girlfriend, we are arguing more frequently, and it seems like someone has burst our perfect bubble. I am uncertain if we will ever be able to go back to how things were, as new feelings are starting to develop between us. Overall, it seems like our once effortless co-parenting dynamic is now complicated by emotions we never expected.
