Reggie's life changes in the summer of 1985. As an awkward 13-year-old, she becomes involved with the school outcasts. During this same time, a serial killer known as Neptune starts to abduct women. The killer leaves their severed hands on the steps of the police department and, five days later, showcases their bodies around the town. Just when Reggie needs her mother, Vera, the most, Vera's hand is discovered on the steps. However, after five days, there is no body and Neptune vanishes.

Fast forward 25 years later, Reggie is now a successful architect who has moved away from her hometown and put the traumatic memories of that summer in the past. But when she receives a call informing her that her mother has been found alive, Reggie is forced to confront the demons of her past and locate Neptune before he strikes again.
